CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY
The Ethiopia Ministry of Trade has recently introduced mandatory testing and veri cation against 124 Compulsory Ethiopian Standards (CES).
It is a Conformity Assessment and veri cation procedure applied to speci c goods/products in the exporting country, to ensure their compliance with applicable Ethiopian Technical Regulations and Mandatory Standards or approved equivalent standards.
Consignments covered by the Compulsory Standards
must be accompanied by a Certi cate of Conformity (CoC) issued by an accredited certi cation body prior to Customs clearance in Ethiopia. A CoC can be obtained from Intertek who have been approved by the Ethiopian Ministry of Trade as a Certi cation Body for the issuance of such certi cates.
The key elements undertaken in the programme are:
• Physicalinspectionpriortoshipment
• Sampling,testingandanalysisinISO/IEC17025
accredited laboratories
• Documentaryreviewofconformitywithregulations
• AssessmentofConformitytostandards
To apply for a Certi cate of Conformity you will need to supply Intertek with:
• CompletedRequestforCerti cation(RfC)Form,which is available on our website
• AcopyofCommercial/FinalInvoice
• Letter of Credit (L/C)
• QualityManagementSystemCerti cates(ISO9001,ISO
22000, ISO/TS 16949 etc.), if available
• TestDocumentssuchasTestReports,TestCerti cates,etc. • Packinglist,BillofLading,ifavailable
• AccountApplicationFormapplicablefornewclients
Upon receipt of the above listed documents, Intertek will
arrange with you a mutually convenient date, time and location for the shipment inspection to be carried out.
