CERTIFICATE OF CONFORMITY
The Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has implemented guidelines called the
Pre-Export Veri cation of Conformity (PVoC) to Standards Programme for exports to Kenya.
Shipments of ‘Regulated Products’ need a Certi cate of Conformity (CoC) for Kenyan Customs clearance. The CoC veri es, in the exporting country, that the products comply with applicable Kenyan Technical Regulations, mandatory standards or approved equivalents.
Intertek is contracted by KEBS to operate the PVoC programme in regions such as Americas, Australia, New Zealand Republic, Polynesia Islands, Central America, Caribbean, China, Indian Subcontinent, Nordic Countries, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and Western Africa and issue the mandatory CoC.
The key elements undertaken in the PVoC are:
• Physicalinspectionpriortoshipment
• Sampling,testingandanalysisinaccreditedlaboratories • Qualityauditofproductionprocesses
• Documentaryreviewofconformitywithregulations
• Assessmentofconformitytostandards
To apply for a Certi cate of Conformity you will need to supply Intertek with:
• CompletedRequestforCerti cation(RfC)Form,which is available on our website
• AcopyofCommercial/FinalInvoice
• Import Declaration Form
• QualityManagementSystemCerti cates(ISO9001,ISO
22000, ISO/TS 16949 etc.), if available
• TestDocumentssuchasTestReports,TestCerti cates,etc. • AccountApplicationFormapplicablefornewclients
Upon receipt of the above listed documents, Intertek will arrange with you a mutually convenient date, time and location for the shipment inspection to be carried out.
This can normally be arranged within a maximum of 48 hours of your initial call to us. Your CoC will then be issued within a maximum of 24 hours of the inspection if the results are satisfactory.
For regular shipment of the same products to Kenya you may nd it bene cial to apply for Registration/Licensing.
